Where's the beef? The following meaty items are pulled from my professional portfolio. It's being chewed and digested by the consumers. It's roasting on the grill, tantilizing passer's taste buds. It's supplying sustaining energy to the user. To some folks it may just look like "advertising", but to a brand it is the source of life for a vision, an idea or a dream. It is a voice through which to be heard and an image through which to be seen.

Good Intentions Paving Co. - Logo. A logo created for Good Intentions Paving Co. The company was founded with the good intentions that their forward steps in providing Michigan with legal medical marijuana dispensaries is paving the path for the future in this industry. Using images from Gray's Anatomy, this deck aims to inform about Gift Of Life, giving information of how to get signed up, and how your organs could help save lives.
Premier - Video Art. Premier's fourth video, Post Script, released the summer of 2011. Much of the original team went in different directions or began to produce less, making way for a whole new generation of skaters to write the new definition of skating. Just as P.S. is an after thought, an amendment was written with this video. Text superimposed on concrete as well as hand written type accompany this theme.
Jai Yung - Business Card. Jai Yung offers an extremely broad spectrum of services. In the process of working on her title, I came across a fact about chickadees that was very relative to her broad level of busy ingenuity in a rough economy: a chickadee's brain grows in the winter so it can remember where it hides it's food. Jai grows abilities in hard times, thus we went with this theme and you have what you see here: creative survivalist. Visit Jai's blog here.
Premier - Blog Photography. In promotion of product on the Premier web store, it is sometimes necessary to help support a piece with an environment that can improive and create a story for the product itself. Tommy Guerrero, ex pro skater and current musician, pulled this double treat with Vans in late 2010 so I brought my guitar, Lucille, into the picture to help enhance that image.
Premier - Neon Tee. A T-Shirt produced to match a much anticipated Nike SB Dunk Low that released early 2011. Photographed the best attempt, live traced it and added the ketchup packet and other details.

Premier - Promotional Web Banners. Over the course of the time working at Premier several product photos were taken and applied to web banners used as promotion of current products. These banners were displayed on a rotating banner ad at the top of the site. Full creative freedom was given to promote each store product in a unique way.
Premier - Shoe Photo Shoot. In collaboration with Element, Premier Skateboarding released a Halifax style shoe featuring elements that represent the rough ground we often encounter skating in midwest Michigan. The tongue is inspired by the Bondo logo, and much of the shoe features cracked textures. The shoe was appropriately shot on the bricks in front of the store. See the whole shoot here.
Premier - Lemon Law Deck. Sometimes in at Premier, one must be as used car salesman to assist in a purchase. You have to find the right shape, look, performance and price. When one breaks down quickly there is generally an expected exchange. It's a good thing people aren't jumping on cars or dealerships would be in serious trouble. Much thanks to Ann Street Auto for allowing this photo shoot to happen on their lot. See the rest of the shoot here.
Dew x Premier - Packaging. A can design in collaboration with Premier for the Green Label Art contest hosted by Mountain Dew. 35 skate shops were invited to compete in collaboration with an artist to create artistic can packaging. Premier - Design & Packaging. This Premier candy themed package of two sizes of wheels and a bearing set with mints included stemmed from my love of starbright mints. I love the swirling pattern and how it fits perfect with the spinning of wheels and bearings. This project turned out pretty "sweet."
Premier - Deck Design. The Premier Bricks board is a firm display of the Premier brand in deck form. The storefront and address are displayed on front in a two color design that was based around two photographs taken of the shop exterior. One brick out front always makes me smile with it's impressed text: "Metropollitan Block." It stands out so perfectly in front of the store. See the rest of the shoot here.

Premier - Warhol Shop Display. Alien Workshop and the Warhol Foundation teamed up and collaborated on a series of skateboards. In turn, Alien Workshop created a challenge to create the best shop display for the decks, which we have here. I built this display in Premier around the idea that aliens have abducted Andy Warhol to better understand how to mass market our culture into enslavement.
Hands On Hunger - Logo. Logo design donated by Gray Tone Dreams to help support the great cause of stopping hunger in the Midwest Michigan area. Site photography also donated by Gray Tone Dreams. Find out more about Hands On Hunger here.
Design Strategies - Logo. Design Strategies, a commercial and residential interior design firm, needed a logo that meshed old world charm with modern design by using typographic and natural elements. The “D” from Design is interlinked with the vine styled “S” of Strategies to create a circular stamp style logo. The logo needed to present a subtle feminine touch with hints of Art Nouveau, while still remaining timeless and unique. Web design also by GTD.
Design Strategies - Business Card. This is a two piece card that allows the client to present a specific face to her brand depending on the client: higher end clientele receive a card and sleeve. The sleeve is embossed with the brand type, and it utilizes a die cut that provides a spot to display the iconic element of the logo, and a way to remove the card from the sleeve. See more design work here.
New Holland Brewing - Logo. This logo was made for New Holland's cask beer line. Cask beers are kept at room temperature inside of a barrel, and usually cover a range of beer that is either hoppy or dark. I kept to a very authentic and straight forward look.
New Holland Brewing - Flock for Hops Thermal. New Holland wanted a piece for the fall time that could be worn independently, or layered with the “Floral Hops Rib Tee.” A thermal long sleeve was printed with similar elements from the rib tee. The birds that flock up the sleeve and into the hoppy tree on the chest, match the rib tee in color and theme.
New Holland Brewery - Floral Hops Rib Tee. New Holland was in need of designer women’s clothing that would feature elements of beer in a lady-like manner. Using an organic pattern that includes birds, a moon and the New Holland logo, the beer-loving ladies became clothed and pleased.
New Holland Brewing - Ichabod Hoodie. This hoodie was created for New Holland shortly before the related poster just before the time of Ichabod's release date for Ichabod's release date. New Holland Brewing - Poster. This large scale poster was a promotional for the fall time release of New Holland's Ichabod. By reworking the original brand elements, a dark, yet playful piece of art was created. Using notes of a dark fall night and the warm glow of a top lit glass achieved a perfect balance of eeriness and a warm welcome. A single pass of glow ink was on the moon, brand type and pumpkin parts.
New Holland Brewing - Back to the 80's. This poster was created for a Back to School New Holland event. Several characters from the 80's were hand illustrated, including David Bowie, Voltron, Gary Coleman, Alf, MC Hammer, Don Johnson, Rainbow Brite and Mr T. This motley crew of has beens is hanging out in front of the beloved Delorean.
New Holland Brewing - Poster. This poster was printed in house at New Holland to promote the summer music lineup. I chose to play on some warm vibrant colors with a mix tape theme. If I could make a mix tape for this poster it would be titled "Totally Awesome Radness."
New Holland Brewing - Wine Photography. All of the New Holland wine collection was shot on site using a collapsible infinity wall and some simple lighting. Labels were placed on bottles by hand and all glasses shined up before the shoot to assure no finger prints as well as heat sealing all tops precisely in place. I'm a bit of a orderly neat freak when it comes to photo shoots, but I suppose that's a good thing.
New Holland Brewing - Beer Photography. All of the New Holland beer collection was shot on site using a collapsible infinity wall and some simple lighting. A simple stir of the straw created the foamy head once everything was aligned and ready to shoot.
New Holland Brewing - Black Tulip. Mysterious, alluring and seductive, yet tantalizingly elusive; these are the storied characteristics of New Holland's Black Tulip. Partially influenced by a Man Ray's photo, this woman displays a dress formed as a tulip that drapes eloquently down her back, and hops in her hair & earrings. This bottle was screen printed with a matte metallic ink.
New Holland Brewing - Blue Sunday. In honor of twelve years in brewing, New Holland created a special anniversary beer. The name, Blue Sunday, is in reference to the alcohol ban that had been lifted in Ottawa County. A very simple barrel and banner were used on a metallic paper to give a refined classic feel.
New Holland Brewing - Flying Bottle Cap. This fidel cap features a very simple one color print that showcases the famous New Holland bottle cap. Underneath each New Holland beer cap is a word that can be used to create poetry called "capslam". This hat is a winged ode to the cap slam tradition.
Globe - 07 Catalog. Globe's 2007 showcase of their available in-store product to the consumer. A UV laminate was printed on the front cover in a very organic and non-destracting manner. The inside of the catalog uses elements from the cover as a footer and section tabs on the sides. Each product is isolated on a white background with a product description, price and 3 detail shots to show features.
Globe - Magazine ad. This quarter page ad was run in Lake Magazine as a general promotional and public awareness of Globe’s current stock and optical selection. It directs interest mostly to the well paid, middle aged woman with an obsession to shop for new fashion.
36 Squares - Wanted Poster. As 36 Squares, expanded, there became an ever present need for more programmers and designers, so this piece was created to get some replies from prospectives. A western “wanted poster” theme was used as a style. This piece was tacked up on bulletin boards at local colleges and in a few art related venues.
Something Takes Place - Logo. This logo was created in a strictly typographic format for an art collective founded by 36 Squares. Something Takes Place is a web community that allows artists of all types to post art in any digital format. The break in the logo is representative of the space between the concept and the creation of art where "Something takes place."
Something Takes Place - Poster. After the launch of the website, Something Takes Place began hosting a live art/ gallery event at the Park Theatre. Various images, based upon the colors coordinating with media types on the website, were used in a grouped pattern to stress that Something can be anything. www.somethingtakesplace.com
